Parent Ed on 6/11

The last meeting was geared towards father's day and they had 4 adoptive dads talk about their various experiences as being fathers, in particular how it related to being a father of an adopted child. One talked about he knows his kids are his kids whether they are adopted or not (he had one bio and one adopted). Another talked about how he wrote journals for both of his adopted Chinese daughters during his wait to get bring them home. Another talked about how wonderful it was for him to be involved in the labor of the creation of his family way more than he thought he could if his wife was pregnant. All of the fathers were of different ages, one was 25 and had decided to adopt a special needs daughter after winning money on Jeopardy (how cool is that?!) and another was in the late 50s with a 2 and a 4 year old. One of them sort of dragged on, but the speakers were all pretty good and thought provoking and a great way to think about father's day.
